Summary:
Today I’ll be showing you how to make your own paint at home using household products.
Step 1:
To begin, add two tablespoons of salt and two tablespoons of warm water into a container. Close the lid and place it onto the vortex mixer until majority of the salt has dissolved into the warm water.
Step 2:
Move this mixture into a larger container and add two tablespoons of flour, any type of fine textured powder will work for this (e.g. cornstarch, baby powder, powdered sugar, etc).
Step 3:
Mix everything using the Mini Vortex Mixer, you may add water if the texture is too thick. The consistency we are aiming for is smooth and free of clumps.
Step 4:
If you are choosing to only make one colour, you can add your food coloring directly into this mixture. If you are choosing to make multiple colours this is the time to separate the mixture into separate containers. Note, the food colouring must be water soluble.
Step 5:
Screw on the lid and place this mixture of paint and food colouring onto the Mini Vortex Mixer until the colour is thoroughly combined. You know the paint is finished mixing when the colour is even throughout the mixture.
Step 6:
Once the paint is finished mixing, it is ready to use. You can play around with different consistencies and colours to fit your liking.
